Parts Therapy in Chiang Mai, Thailand
Parts therapy to create peace from inside.
Human beings are complicated creatures composed of many parts, which are often conflicted.
When you experience parts therapy, you will meet your various parts and learn how they can work together to create balance between your conflicting emotional needs.
The archetypal parts of the psyche
The inner child
The inner child is the emotional part of the psyche. The child holds pain from the past and is responsible for emotional needs. Every part of the psyche is doing their best to look after the child inside, different parts just often have different ideas about what that means.
The inner adult
The adult is the logical, decision-making part of the psyche. The adult focuses on present-day concerns and responsibilities.
Wisdom
Wisdom highest part of the psyche that provides guidance and insight into our lives, often referred to as a "gut feeling" or inner voice. Depending on your belief system, wisdom may be seen as the spiritual part of your mind.
The judge
This is the part that is responsible for inner (often negative) commentary about ourselves, other people and the situations in our lives. This part can be unconsciously modelled on external voices such as parents or authority figures.
The saboteur
Saboteur is the protective part of the psyche that may engage in self-sabotage due to fears and resistance to change.
The role of parts and protection of the inner child
The above parts of the psyche all work together to look after our emotional well-being or (metaphorically speaking) to look after the inner child.
One problem is that often different parts have different ideas about what this means. This is because every part has its own values, needs, beliefs and desires.
By understanding your parts, their roles and their functions, you will be able to better address emotional needs and create balance and inner peace in your life.
The parts therapy process
Parts therapy is one technique used within hypnotherapy that was pioneered by Charles Tebbetts. Please click here for a free pdf about the parts therapy work of Charles Tebbetts.
The process involves:
1. Entering trance - being guided into a safe place in your mind in a relaxed state of hypnosis, allowing for easier access to the various parts of the psyche.
2. Communication and integration - communicating with the different parts with the goal of integration to achieve emotional balance.
3. Identifying and addressing behaviours and secondary gains - each part is responsible for certain behaviours, often with a protective or beneficial intent. You will learn to recognise these behaviours and their underlying intentions, allowing for the negotiation of healthier alternatives.
4. Regression therapy - regression therapy may be used to identify when parts were created, heal unresolved trauma, and evolve the nature and structure of the part itself.
The goal is for every part to be accepted by every other part, and for every part to work together as a unified team.
The benefits of parts therapy
Parts therapy offers numerous benefits, including:
1. Improved emotional balance - by understanding the roles and functions of the different parts of the psyche, you will achieve a healthier inner balance.
2. Enhanced self-awareness - the therapy process promotes self-discovery and emotional awareness, helping you to understand your motivations and behaviours on a deeper level.
3. Healthier relationships - as you create a healthier relationship yourself, you will naturally be able to enjoy healthier relationships with other people too.
4. Empowerment - develop the tools and understanding that you need to take care of your emotional needs and lead a happier and more fulfilled life.
