Fundementally, confidence is a a relaxed state of mind usually accompanied by feelings of relaxation and security.  A confident person thinks positive thoughts and imagines things going well. Confidence is a belief in oneself and a certainty in one’s ability to overcome any challenges on life’s path.

How does hypnosis therapy build confidence?

The subconscious mind is literal and responds to what we tell ourselves.   Emotions are an internal response to thought and imagination.   Or, as Einstein said, “your imagination is the preview of life’s coming attractions”.

A person with a fear of public speaking imagines themselves being anxious at a talk.  A  confident speaker has a quite different inner idea – picturing themselves feeling comfortable and relaxed.  A confident speaker holds an belief and confidence in their own knowledge and knows that words will flow through them.

Inner belief follows past experience and can change with new learning.  Hypnotherapy builds confidence at its root, resolving the trauma of past experience and seeding the mind with positive associations through suggestion therapeutics, inner conflict resolution, NLP and creative visualization.

Confidence is the opposite of anxiety.  Therefore in order to build confidence, triggers of anxiety are identified and resolved within therapy.  Therapy builds confidence by creating a positive self image and dissolving the obstacles to confidence one personal challenge at a time.

Through creating an emotional shift in inner work, the client observes a change in emotion after the session.  Emotional shift leads to more relaxed behavior, new experience and a change in perception of self.

The benefits of building confidence

Confidence affects every part of one’s life.  As people naturally feel and respond to each other’s emotions, a confident attitude improves all aspects of human relationships because people feel relaxed with those who are relaxed.

Reality might be understood as a “feedback” loop.  When things go well in the outer world, it is natural to feel more confident and imagine things going well in the future.  In effect, therapy aims to build a “positive hypnosis cycle” of thoughts, feelings and experience.  As confidence builds, inner dialogue shifts resulting in an attitude that is more likely to say “yes” to new life opportunities as they come one’s way.

What takes natural confidence away?

Exploring confidence as a state of mind, it is clear that the difference between people who feel confident and those who do not lies at the level of mental thought and inner imagination.  Every thought in the mind – when focused upon – creates an emotion.  Therefore it can be understood that confidence is as much something that is lost through negative thinking as can be gained through positive imagining.  It all happens in the mind!

Examining the thoughts

If we examine the thoughts that take confidence away, they usually originate in one of two places – the past or the future.  Experiences from the past have led to beliefs about who we are.  What are our strengths and what are our weaknesses?  Emotional conclusions of self are based on unresolved past experiences that result in the thoughts that enter the conscious mind in the present moment and generate one’s emotional sense of being.

In essence, every emotion that has not been processed from the past is recreating the future through our thoughts in the present.  Negative associations to situations that “pattern match” the past create thoughts in the present that generate the emotions from which many people make life decisions.  Therefore it is important to examine the past and heal it for any long-lasting confidence building strategy.

What is the procedure for confidence building with hypnotherapy?

The session begins with counseling, paying attention to the different areas of one’s life   so that areas of confidence – and lack thereof – may be identified.  The objective is to build an overall picture of the client’s life and create to a focused therapeutic plan tailored to the needs of the client.

The client is trained in entering hypnosis, a relaxing state of consciousness that is deeply beneficial to well being by itself.  Hypnosis is a state of increased suggestibility and a first step in any therapy for confidence boosting is to use hypnotic suggestion to improve sleep, consumption of healthy food and improve patterns of thinking and feeling.

Subsequent sessions focus on resolving trauma from the past and creative positive associations to anxiety triggers through creative visualization.  The client is taught how to build a positive self image and inner mindset as session by session, confidence grows as inner shifts are reflected into the world around them.
